The ten steps outlined in this paper provide a systematic approach to building the
foundation for data center infrastructure management by deploying and leveraging
measurement, intelligent controls and centralized monitoring and management. Data
centers employing these 10 prescribed point solutions for infrastructure performance
monitoring stand to gain an operational, strategic and transformative advantage for their
enterprise or business.
Through these 10 steps, data center managers can automatically collect data from
infrastructure systems and sensors placed strategically within the physical space and use this
data to gain higher availability, increase efficiency, enhance the value of virtualization and
consolidation efforts and improve planning.
Examine the common operational and business challenges of traditional desktop management facing SMB organizations, including infrastructure investment and implementation-related IT services and costs. Get a clear understanding how Citrix VDI-in-a-Box, an affordable, predictable turnkey VDI package, offers unique advantages compared to other VDI solutions and why SMBs can now realize the same enterprise-class desktop virtualization benefits.

Virtualization is well-established as a key strategic technology in large enterprises, delivering the scalability and agility needed to handle the vast data growth and shifting business priorities that define these organizations. Many organizations with smaller IT teams are also adopting virtualization, some to address a specific tactical need and others as part of strategic initiatives to become more nimble and efficient.
To learn more about this growing trend, Imation surveyed more than 1200 IT professionals (predominantly in enterprise organizations with 100-1000 employees), asking a variety of questions related to their use of storage systems in virtualized environments. Explore this e-book to learn more.
According to Forrester Research, "Enterprise data virtualization has become critical to every organization in overcoming growing data challenges," with faster access to connected data, self-service, and agility among the many benefits seen.
In this report, Forrester analyzes past research and Forrester Wave reports, user need assessments, and vendor and expert interviews to evaluate the offerings of top vendors in enterprise data virtualization. In compiling the vendor rankings, the report reviews the current offering, strategy, and market presence for the 13 most significant vendors.
They discuss where TIBCO ranks in the evaluation and positions TIBCO Data Virtualization as a leader in enterprise data virtualization

Virtualization is now mainstream. Enterprises continue to heavily invest in virtualization projects and while short term hardware and cost saving benefits are being achieved, few enterprises achieve anywhere close to the full potential of virtualization as they struggle with new problems like assuring performance and availability, preventing VM sprawl, and maximizing resource utilization

Today, nearly every datacenter has become heavily virtualized. In fact, according to Gartner as many as 75% of X86 server workloads are already virtualized in the enterprise datacenter. Yet even with the growth rate of virtual machines outpacing the rate of physical servers, industry wide, most virtual environments continue to be protected by backup systems designed for physical servers, not the virtual infrastructure they are used on. Even still, data protection products that are virtualization-focused may deliver additional support for virtual processes, but there are pitfalls in selecting the right approach.
This paper will discuss five common costs that can remain hidden until after a virtualization backup system has been fully deployed.
The study finds that enterprises are active in the cloud, and their virtualization efforts are contributing to broader "cloud thinking." As a result, the cloud is coming of age within large organizations and aligning IT decision makers and implementers around a cloud computing platform.
