This paper outlines the five simple steps you can take to help prevent sensitive information leakage from your organization, while keeping up with the rapidly evolving regulatory environment. The average employee sends and receives about 29,000 emails per year. One in every 20 of those emails contains “risky” data – from sensitive attachments to social security numbers to protected health information to valuable corporate secrets that set your organization apart. All of this risky data can become toxic to your company if it’s hacked or suffers a breach – causing reputational damage, customer loss, heavy fines, and decreased competitive edge. SilverSky offers a game-changing Email Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solution, run on IBM SoftLayer, which brings content-aware policy capabilities normally reserved for complex enterprise DLP solutions. Catholic Health East, a multi-institutional health system, embarked on a service delivery project that would formalize service level agreements. Catholic Health East chose CA Oblicore GuaranteeT to tackle the challenge of automating SLAs, building a service catalog, as well as monitoring, managing and reporting reliable information. As well as simplifying reporting, CA Oblicore Guarantee has helped Catholic Health East improve IT service levels. Overall, Catholic Health East has seen a 40 percent increase in problem resolution compliance.
In May 2010, CA Technologies commissioned Forrester Consulting to examine the financial impact and potential return on investment (ROI) that an organization might realize from implementing CA's Oblicore Guarantee solution. To determine the impact, Forrester examined the specific costs, benefits, flexibility, and risk elements that a CA customer, Catholic Health East (CHE), experienced over the past three years using the CA Oblicore Guarantee solution. From interviews conducted by Forrester, it was determined that CHE's use of CA's Oblicore Guarantee solution allowed for a significant redeployment of labor necessary to compile and distribute service-level management reports to its system office customers and enabled a similar labor cost avoidance associated with compiling and distributing reports to its hospitals or Regional Health Corporations (RHCs). Based on our interviews, Forrester projects a three-year, risk-adjusted total net present value (NPV) of $173,420, representing the net costs and benefits attributed to using the CA Oblicore Guarantee solution versus CHE's previous manual processes used in service management reporting. (See details below in Costs, Benefits, Flexibility, and Risks sections). In addition, the risk-adjusted ROI was a favorable 45%, and the payback period was within 20 months.

If not, you are increasing the risk for costly, unplanned downtime. However, despite the importance of having a reliable flow of electricity, over half of building owners rely on reactive maintenance programs to care for their equipment. This means they wait until equipment fails completely before initiating corrective action, which is typically 3-4 times more costly than taking preventive measures.
A good first step to go from being reactive to proactive is having a power system assessment performed to determine the current state and reliability of your electrical system. For more information on Power System Assessments, download our white paper, "Assessing the Health of a Facility's Electrical Power Distribution System".

Learn how IBM Watson Health clinical application advisors helped Floyd Health Care System take full advantage of the platform’s many benefits.
As part of its journey toward population health management, Floyd wanted to optimize the way it used the IBM® Phytel® solution from IBM Watson Health™ and take advantage of its analytical tools.
With help from an IBM Watson Health clinical application advisor, Floyd expanded its IBM solutions and used their unique capabilities to progress toward a more robust population healthcare model by adding care coordination activities and improving key process measures.
Electronic health records (EHRs) are necessary, but were not designed to anchor population health management (PHM). This is partly because they lack semantic interoperability, which is the ability of disparate information systems to share data and enable communications among users in a meaningful way.
This paper explains how an approach that includes a care collaboration platform can manage population health by aggregating and normalizing the necessary data.
This paper presents a cost/benefit case for two leading enterprise database contenders -- IBM DB2 11.1 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows (DB2 11.1 LUW) and Oracle Database 12c -- with regard to delivering effective security capabilities, high-performance OLTP capacity and throughput, and efficient systems configuration and management automation. Comparisons are of database installations in the telecommunications, healthcare, and consumer banking industries. For OLTP workloads in these environments, three-year costs average 32 percent less for use of DB2 11.1 compared to Oracle 12c.
Multinational companies (MNCs) are facing a unique combination of escalating customer, competitive and operational pressures which are forcing them to fundamentally change the way they do business and manage their IT infrastructures supporting network, security and mobility needs.
Lack of IT resources, limited capex and more complex global implementations are driving an increasing proportion of MNCs to offload, or 'out-task', various aspects of their day-to-day management responsibilities to skilled third-parties that can help perform these functions well.

Mobile devices help clinicians improve the quality of patient care and save lives by improving staff communication and collaboration, and by providing instant access to a wealth of mission-critical information — from real-time lab results to a change in a patient’s condition or verification of the “5 rights” of medication administration at the patient bedside. In addition, mobility also helps healthcare organizations comply with important governmental and regulatory safety standards, without tasking an already overburdened nursing staff with additional paperwork. This white paper provides guidance for planning and implementing a clinical mobility solution in today’s healthcare environment, including a five-step roadmap to help key stakeholders identify needs.
Zebra’s broad range of enterprise-level, healthcare-designed, end-to-end solutions provides a wealth of benefits throughout a healthcare facility, enabling clinicians, staff and administrators to sense, analyze and act in real time. Identity solutions can help improve accuracy and enhance patient safety, deliver greater operational efficiency and caregiver confidence, and improve the patient experience. Mobility solutions help improve staff communication and collaboration with enterprise effectiveness and workflow efficiency. Intelligence solutions offer greater visibility to data on patients, staff, assets and the facility overall for better decision making.
Dallas-based Parkland Health & Hospital implemented a Zebra technology solution to create a mobile-enabled workforce at its new state-of-the-art hospital campus. That mobile solution enabled the nursing staff to focus on what’s most important — patient care. The solution gave nurses the ability to communicate in real time, access right-now information and take the right action with that information.
Parkland’s leadership was able to track all patient activities from positive patient identification and specimen collection to laboratory specimen tracking and pharmacy medication administration. Additionally, hospital staff communication with voice and secure texting, along with patient alerts and
alarms—all help increase patient safety, care and satisfaction.
Hospitals and other healthcare organizations must contend with a daunting set of challenges when deploying mobile technology. That’s why it’s important to develop a carefully planned mobility strategy. To be successful, your strategy will need strong senior level leadership, commitment, funding and resources. An interdisciplinary team should be gathered— including nursing, physicians, pharmacy, IT, ancillary care, biomedical engineering and finance—to develop a vision for a common technology infrastructure that supports all staff across the organization. This white paper highlights a five-step roadmap for building an effective mobility strategy.
